Limited Edition: Brembo Bomber

The Brembo Bomber pays homage to a 1970s US WEP Flight jacket designed by Massimo Osti and employs the very same garment dying processes used in production of the original.

The jacket utilises a fabric that has been inspired by Osti’s legendary Thermojoint fabric, which was first made as a hard-wearing military-grade fabric that was constructed from the bonding of cotton and PVC.

The garment dying techniques used in the creation of the Brembo result in a chromatic depth and intensity that would be impossible to achieve with pre-dyed fabric, whilst enhancing the texture profiles of the fabric.

The jackets design is modelled on Osti's original US WEP Bomber. The WEP abbreviation is a shortened version of BUWEPS, meaning US Navy Bureau of Weapons, the WEP bomber was the favoured jacket by fighter pilots of the U.S Navy and Marine Corps during the 1970s.

The original jackets were designed to be worn under cold weather exposure suits and therefore warranted a boxy fit to allow for mobility inside an aircraft. Pilots at the time opted for the ribbed collar and cuffs of the WEP Bomber over other jackets, as the ribbing kept fabric close to the skin to provide superior insulating qualities at high altitude.

The Brembo Bomber remains true to the original flight jacket, with a series of minor tweaks. The premium Italian fabric that makes up the bomber is fully lined and treated with a Polyurethane coating that provides water repellency.

To provide wearers of this latest piece, with the ability to regulate their temperature, underarm vents have been added alongside a full Made in Italy Lampo zipper that runs up the entirety of the bomber just as it did in Osti’s original version.

The jacket features the iconic “Left Hand” detail within the lining that was originally introduced by Massimo Osti and includes the traditional, Left Hand subtle sleeve branding, synonymous with the jacket designs from Massimo Osti’s original, rich archive of Left Hand designs.

The Brembo Bomber is set to launch on Sunday at 8pm, with only 50 jackets in production.
