Product : Thermojoint Ladies Harrington
Year : 1993
When Left Hand was launched in 1993, one of the first collections Massimo Osti produced included a small womenswear range. Although Massimo was not particularly known for designing women’s garments, this collection was released in very limited numbers exclusively for the Italian market. We are fortunate to hold a few of these rare pieces in the Left Hand Archive.
One of them is this striking Thermojoint Harrington jacket, finished in a vibrant red. The detailing is classic Osti - subtle yet intricate, particularly in the cuff and hem fastenings. It also featured the option to insert a Left Hand liner, offering adaptability for changing weather conditions.
As many of you who follow the history of Left Hand and Massimo Osti’s work will know, Thermojoint was a fabric he deeply admired. He was fascinated by materials that offered protection — blending military functionality with fashion - and Thermojoint was a prime example: tough, innovative, and said to provide protection from nuclear radiation. While never officially tested for that purpose, it was fully waterproof.
The original Thermojoint fabric, however, would be too environmentally harmful by today’s standards. That’s why we are actively developing the next chapter in its evolution. The highly anticipated Thermojoint 2 will relaunch in 2026.
